$7332.18
"This is a specific review fo 360 Painting of Sarasota. We paid $7332.18 for an absolutely hellish experience. We hired 360 Painting of Sarasota to remove popcorn ceiling, paint the ceiling, remove wallpapers, and paint the entire unit while we were out of of state, in our home town. 360 painting of Sarasota did a catastrophic job. They sent workers without the necessary expertise to do the job properly and there was zero supervision and inspection from management during the painting process and especially at the end of the project. If there had been adequate oversight, 360 Painting of Sarasota wouldn't have presented this catastrophic painting job as the final outcome. I came into town to discover the following (all documented and available upon request):
The painters had not removed all the residual glue left on the walls when removing the wallpaper and in certain places had not removed all the wallpapers and just painted over. The walls of both bathrooms, the kitchen, and the bar area looked horrific.
Parts of the ceiling in the entire unit were cracked like alligator skin after the popcorn ceiling was removed.
There was still residue of popcorn ceiling on parts of the ceiling.
Most of the walls of the unit were covered up with splatters of paint.
The master bedroom and its hallway were painted with the wrong color.
The owner's initial reaction was to be defensive and accusatory. He tried to blame me without seeing the work. It took him two days for him to finally come in person to see for himself. Since I had not paid him yet, he ended up apologizing and promised to correct the job in a quick turn around of a couple of days. Because he apologized, we decided to give him a second chance as we believe that everyone deserves one. It was a mistake on our part. We should have dismissed him and hired another company to fix his mistakes. As a conclusion, 360 painting of Sarasota, owned by Jeff did the following:
Destroyed our family vacations during the holidays.
Prevented us from putting our vacation unit on the rental market for the month of January as planned and we lost January rent; high season rent on Longboat Key.
We lived in a construction site from December 21, 2020 till January 9, 2021 (talk about a quick turn around) with walls being sanded and dust being everywhere, brand new furniture being covered with plastic but still covered with sanding dust, no access to the kitchen for days, and access to only one bathroom for a family of 5.
We had to eat out three times a day while the kitchen was closed off.
My eleven year old has allergies and had to suffer throughout our stay.
I had to send my kids back with my husband to our home town, hire a babysitter for 8 days, and stay behind to make sure that the work will be done.
I had to change my plane ticket and incur a fee.
I had to rent a car for an extra 8 days.
I had to wait for the rescheduling of the cleanup because Jeff, the owner, knowingly misled the cleaning lady by telling her that it was a regular clean up instead of a construction clean up, even though she asked him twice. I texted Jeff that I will not pay unless the unit was cleaned so he agreed to pay the right fee for the construction clean up. Because of the rescheduling, I only had one day left to stage the house for the February rental before leaving time the next morning.
The painters had not protected the brand new tiles and vinyl plank floors and they were covered with paint. No amount of scrubbing was enough to clean them from the paint. The brand new floors are damaged. Jeff dismissed the fact that it was too late to salvage the floors as paint had been absorbed by the grout of the tiles and the grooves of the vinyl planks. He casually said that he could send someone to clean after it was too late. No concerns or apologies.
I couldn't finish staging the unit for February because Jeff cornered me by leaving me no time. We lost another monthly high season rental.
I contacted the Vice-President of 360 Painting, Mr. Joel Gotshall, since the Sarasota business is a franchise and sent him all the videos and pictures as well as a detailed timeline of everything that happened. Mr. Gotshall believed that a financial compensation was warranted and we agreed on a price and I stated that I would edit my reviews to indicate that we came to an agreement and that I received a financial compensation. Jeff would only agree to pay the rightful compensation if and only if I removed my honest reviews completely; basically wanting to erase what truly happened and mislead future customers. He basically tried to bribe us but we refused, as we are not for sale. Mr. Gotshall stated in writing that what happened during the course of the paint project was truly unacceptable and he apologized for what happened and believes that it is in Jeff's best interest to provide a refund but that he cannot force him because he is an independent business owner. You don't really know a business until you encounter problems and they reveal their true face. Stay away from this business."
