Get Quotes for Interior Painting Projects: What a Real Estimate Should Include

|

An interior painting quote that's just a single dollar figure is missing most of the information you actually need to compare bids. A real estimate should break down: rooms and square footage covered, number of coats, whether trim, doors, and ceilings are included or priced separately, paint brand and sheen (a flat wall paint and a scrubbable eggshell in a kids' bathroom are not interchangeable), furniture and floor protection, and cleanup and touch-up terms.

It's common for homeowners to get three quotes that look wildly different in price and assume the middle one is "fair." Often the real difference is scope — one quote includes two coats and trim, another includes one coat and no trim, and neither says so explicitly.

Before requesting quotes, walk through your own home and note which rooms need full color changes versus simple refreshes, and whether trim, doors, and closets should be included. Bring that list to every estimate so you're comparing apples to apples.

You can request a free interior painting estimate and get an itemized breakdown on the spot — no guessing what's actually covered.
